VBS 2022

It is with disappointment that I write to tell you that we have decided not to host Vacation Bible School this Summer. It was a very difficult decision to make because families with young kids are our primary ministry focus as a church AND our mission as a church is to serve the larger community. VBS has been a significant way we seek to bless our area families.

There were several contributing factors, but the main reason for the decision was an insufficient volunteer staff. It takes 50 plus adult and teen volunteers who can commit to the entire week in order to create the safe and fun environment necessary and it didn’t appear that we had even close to that many this year. That may have had to do with our inability to begin the planning process early enough due to staff shortages at the beginning of the year.

Another factor was the challenge of only being able to host 175 kids in our current space. We had a wait list in 2018 and 2019 and have doubled in size since then. This means that we really need to offer two weeks (and twice the volunteer commitment) in order to provide space for all the kids. Because of these obstacles we decided to put our effort into making next year a success.

However, since we still have all the supplies and decorations from Treasured VBS from 2020 (which was cancelled one day before the week began due to the Delta Covid spike), we are going to host VBS during Sunday morning services for five weeks beginning June 26th! So let the kids know that although VBS isn’t happening they can still look forward to a VBS experience at church this summer!

Thank you for your understanding and for your patience with us as we manage our growing pains. We love you all and hope you have a great summer!
